What's our mission?

LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE

It is our goal as a church to create environments that leads people to LOVE GOD in a close and personal way; as well as equip people to go outside of the church and LOVE PEOPLE.

What's our vision?

we exist to see the people of opp, alabama and the surrounding communities forever changed by:

  1. Experiencing God
  2. Finding true and lasting freedom
  3. Discovering their God given purpose
  4. Becoming empowered to make a difference in the lives of others

our strategy

We believe what may be insignificant while remaining in our hands, can be transformed into something magnificent when placed into the hands of Jesus. It is our hope that this body of believers will become wholly engaged followers of Christ through…

  1. Christ-Centered Preaching of God’s Word
  2. Discipling Families
  3. Loving and Investing in Our Children and Students
  4. God Exalting Worship

Mark 8:34 (ESV) And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”

What to expect

You can expect friendly and authentic people, engaging and relevant music and worship, compelling preaching from the Bible, and an opportunity to encounter God. You can expect to find a place where creativity and fellowship come together to worship God in new and exciting ways. You can expect to be encouraged, challenged, convicted, excited and, most importantly, welcomed.

what we believe

We believe in being transparent about our beliefs. We adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message, 2000. For more information, please see the drop down menu below!

    • The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is without error.
    • It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy.
    • It reveals the principles by which God judges us, and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried.
    • All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation.
    • There is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe.
    • God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience.
    • God exist in three distinct persons but without division of nature, essence, or being:                                                                     1. God the Father                                                                                                                                                                                        2. God the Son (Jesus Christ)                                                                                                                                                                 3. God the Holy Spirit
    • We believe that Jesus Christ lived a perfectly righteous and sinless life, died in the place of sinners, fully absorbing the wrath of God, paying the just penalty for their sins and reconciling them to God.
    • As our substitute, on the cross Jesus Christ suffered and died in our place to forgive us, love us, cleanse us, and embrace us as the punishment for our sins was diverted from us to Jesus.
    • Salvation only occurs when a person places his or her faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as the sufficient payment for his or her sin.
    • Now we seek to confess our sins to Jesus Christ and one another, put sin to death in our life, forgive one another, and happily invite others to do the same.
  • Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord’s Supper.

    • Man is a special creation of God, made in His own image.
    • In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race.
    • As a result, man is totally incapable of coming back into a right relationship with God by his or her own effort.
  • A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, observing the two ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word, and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth.

    • We believe that Christians are to be stewards who gladly acknowledge that they belong to the Lord, that everything they have belongs to the Lord, and that everything ultimately belongs to the Lord.
    • Stewards should value both work and Sabbath so that their time and energy are well managed.
    • We believe that all spiritual gifts are a special grace of the Holy Spirit, given to us at our new birth to serve the mission of Jesus, and continue to the present age.
    • According to the Scriptures, Christians should contribute of their means cheerfully, regularly, systematically, and liberally for the advancement of God’s Kingdom on earth.
    • God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption. Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime.
    • The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God’s image. A husband is to love his wife as Christ loved the church. He has the God-given responsibility to provide for, to protect, and to lead his family.
    • A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ. She, being in the image of God as is her husband and thus equal to him, has the God-given responsibility to respect her husband and to serve as his helper in managing the household and nurturing the next generation.
    • Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord. Parents are to demonstrate to their children God’s pattern for marriage. Parents are to teach their children spiritual and moral values and to lead them, through consistent lifestyle example and loving discipline, to make choices based on biblical truth. Children are to honor and obey their parents.
    • God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth; the dead will be raised; and Christ will judge all men in righteousness.
    • The unrighteous will be consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting punishment.
    • The righteous in their resurrected and glorified bodies will receive their reward and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord.
  • The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.
